Ted McCormick
I am a specialist in early modern British, Irish, and European history and history of science, with particular interests in the relation scientific and colonial projects and in the history of ideas about population. I have published research in several edited volumes and a range of academic journals, including Osiris, the Journal of British Studies, Irish Historical Studies, The William & Mary Quarterly, and History of Science. My first book, William Petty and the Ambitions of Political Arithmetic (Oxford University Press, 2009), won the 2010 John Ben Snow Prize (awarded by the North American Conference on British Studies for the best book on any aspect of Britain before 1800). My second book, Human Empire: Mobility and Governance in the British Atlantic World, 1500-1800, is forthcoming from Cambridge University Press. I am an Associate Editor of the Journal of British Studies and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
