Best tripods for the Pixel 4 for astrophotography
Make the most of the Pixel 4 unique astrophotography features with these excellent phone tripods.
One of my favorite features on my Pixel 4 XL is the astrophotography mode. It uses Google's computational photography and multiple pictures taken over the course of four minutes, to create photos of stars that are simply impossible with any other camera phone.
To make it work through the phone has to be absolutely still, and do that you need a tripod. We tried a wide range of tripods and narrowed it down to these top choices.
UBeesize Phone Tripod
A great base for stargazing
The UBeesize is a fantastic tripod for smartphones. Although incredibly lightweight it is extremely stable which is ideal for your Astro-mode on the Pixel 4. The head of the tripod has a bubble to keep you level and can be flipped 90 degrees to let you take photos in both landscape and portrait modes.
If you are looking for a great tripod at a great price, this is the one for you.
AmazonBasics 60-Inch Lightweight Tripod
Can be used for a phone or camera
Like all AmazonBasics products, this tripod is cheap and cheerful and works great. It is a little flimsier than the UBeesize but can be extended to 60 inches, giving you a much better range for your photos.
It also doesn't come with a phone mount so you will need to purchase one separately.
UBeesize Tripod S
Easy to get the right angle
These mini tripods are fantastic to keep handy in your bag or car for whenever you need it. Like camera's, the best tripod is the one you have with you, so having a small, easy to carry tripod is excellent for grabbing those night shots you didn't know you needed.
Ailun Tripod Phone Mount
Convert any tripod to a phone mount
If you are planning to buy the AmazonBasics tripod, or if you own a tripod already, then this small attachment is a must if you want to use your Pixel 4 in Astro-mode. The tight clamp will safely hold your Pixel 4, or Pixel 4 XL, with the screw at the bottom, is made to fit all tripods.
The clamp can even be adjusted to allow portrait mode as well as landscape for the best shot.

Why you can trust Space.com
I really enjoy the astrophotography mode on the Pixel 4. It isn't as good as using a proper DSLR of course, but it is good enough to get some great shots of the night sky to post to Facebook, especially if you touch the pictures up with Snapseed before you post them.
We recommend the Ubeesize tripod because it is extremely stable and made specifically with phone photography in mind. It even comes with a Bluetooth shutter button to make sure you don't nudge the tripod as you tap the screen.
For a small tripod — one that you can keep handy — UBeesize comes through again, with the tripod S. It's small but the adjustable legs mean you can put it on a car roof or random rock, and still get a great shot of the night sky.
