Some Sequences in 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' May Induce Seizures, Disney Warns
Walt Disney Pictures has issued a warning through the Epilepsy Foundation that some sequences in "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" feature flashing lights and other effects that could trigger seizures in those with photosensitive epilepsy.
Along with the warning, the Epilepsy Foundation has offered tips for those with photosensitive epilepsy who want to see the movie, along with instructions for providing first aid in the event of a seizure, which are as follows:
- Ask a friend to watch the movie first.
- Take your friend with you when you go see the film to alert you to which scenes contain the flashing lights so you block your eyes during those scenes.
- Teach your friend the three simple steps of seizure first aid — Stay, Safe, Side — so that they can assist if you have a seizure

"Stay, Safe, Side" refers to the Epilepsy Foundation's guidelines for seizure first aid - Stay with the person and start timing the seizure; keep the person safe; turn the person onto their side if they are not awake and aware. The Foundation elaborates on those guidelines here.
"Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" is due out in theaters Dec. 20.
